Introduction
The majestic northern Drakensberg mountains provide a spectacular
backdrop to the understated luxury found at the Big Five Jackalberry
Lodge in the Thornybush Game Reserve, Limpopo Province, South Africa.
Local Area Information
In summer (October to March) temperatures range from
16°C to 38°C and in Winter (May, June & July) from 5°C
to 26°C. Summer days and nights are generally hot and
humid outdoors while Winter days are mild and very
comfortable with evenings and early mornings being cold.
The Lowveld has summer rainfall. Please note that this is
a MALARIA area.
Accommodation
The luxury accommodation, for up to 16 guests, creates
a restful ethnic ambience in harmony with nature.
Attention to detail and true South African hospitality
will charm guests and leave them with a true sense of
real beauty and warmth. Every sense is indulged in the
chalet style rooms with en-suite bathroom, air
conditioning and patios offering comfort and sheer
decadence with an African flair.
Facilities
Tea, coffee, rusks, muffins and croissants are provided on the
morning game drive and various savoury snacks on the evening
game drive. Brunch is served after the morning game drive and
a high tea is served prior to the afternoon/evening game drive.
A three-course dinner is served in the evening. Activities
Morning and afternoon/evening game safaris in open Land Rovers
with highly trained rangers and trackers. Walking safaris can
also be arranged. More than 60 species of wildlife are found on
this vast reserve including lion, leopard, cheetah, rhino and elephant
as well as several delightful and unusual species of fauna and flora.
Children's Policy
• Children are welcome at Jackalberry Lodge in our family suite.
• Children between 0 and 2 years old are accommodated on a complimentary basis.
• Children from the ages of 3 years to 11 years old are accommodated at 50% of the adult tariff, sharing a family room with the parents.
• Children 12 years and older are considered adults and pay the applicable tariff. Unique Features
